Color Matching for Prebonded Hair
Achieving Perfect Color Harmony for Tips
Match the extension tip color to your natural hair’s color AT THE POINT WHERE THE BEAD SITS, not your root color. Your roots grow out naturally, but mismatched tips at the mid-shaft will create a visible “band” of color.
Swatch with Precision & Context:
Pull a 1-inch section of your dry, natural hair at the crown or side (representing mid-shaft).
Place the extension tip swatch directly against this section, ensuring your natural hair surrounds it.
Hold it vertically as it would hang naturally.
Lighting Matters:
Check the match under daylight (most accurate) and the lighting where you spend most time (office, home). The extension should “disappear” into your hair section.
Undertones are Non-Negotiable:
Match both the level (1=black to 10=lightest blonde) and undertone (warm/golden/red vs. cool/ashy/neutral) of your mid-lengths/ends.
A warm brown tip in cool brown hair will look brassy and obvious. An ashy tip in golden hair will look muddy.
