💡How to Keep The Spanlife of The Clip-In Hair Extensions?

Step 1: Brush the Hair

Image
  • Remove the clip-in hair extensions from your head and place them neatly on a hair extension storage rack.
  • Use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-bristle brush to gently brush from top to bottom, carefully removing any tangles.

Step 2: Water Temperature & Product Selection

  • Use lukewarm water to wash the extensions. Add about 2–3 pumps or a small amount of shampoo into the water.
  • We recommend using hair care products that are alcohol-free, sulfate-free, and specifically formulated for color-treated or extension hair to help protect the color from fading due to harsh chemicals.

Step 3: Clean Each Weft Individually

  • To ensure every strand is thoroughly cleaned, wash one weft at a time or tie all the wefts together into a ponytail shape for washing. This helps minimize tangling during the process. Avoid getting the clips wet.
  • Avoid using purple shampoo or any shampoo with bleaching agents that could damage the hair.

Step 4: Washing Technique

  • Soak the extensions in water, gently rinse the hair, and lightly massage in the shampoo.
  • Then apply conditioner or a hair mask, focusing especially on the ends. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes. Be sure to handle the hair gently during rinsing.
  • After 3–5 minutes, rinse thoroughly. Lay the extensions flat on a towel and gently pat and squeeze them dry. If the hair feels slippery after rinsing, there may still be some product residue left.

Step 5: Air Dry the Hair

Image
  • The best way to dry clip-in extensions is by letting them air dry naturally. Place them on a towel or hang them on a storage rack in a well-ventilated area.
  • Alternatively, use an ionic hair dryer on a medium heat setting to gently blow dry from the ends, finishing with a cool shot to seal in smoothness.

Step 6: Lock in Moisture

  • Apply a small amount of coconut oil, hair serum, or detangling spray to the ends. Then, if desired, use a flat iron to straighten and style.

Q&A

The less you wash your extensions, the longer they’ll last. We recommend washing only when there’s noticeable product build-up. We recommend washing them after every 10-15 wears or once a month.

Not necessarily. Unless there is a significant amount of product buildup (such as hairspray), washing is not required. Instead, you can gently brush out the curls using a soft-bristle brush, starting from the ends and working your way up. To straighten the extensions, you may use a flat iron—just be sure to apply a heat protectant spray beforehand and use a low to medium heat setting to help preserve the hair quality.
