How to apply Tip Hair Extensions? (U tip/I tip/K tip/Micro link)

Tip Hair extensions require tools and are difficult to wear. We recommend that you find a professional hair stylist to help you wear them.

Ⅰ. Tool preparation

Required tools:

Special pliers (micro-ring pliers or crimping pliers, choose according to the type of hair extension)

Fine-tooth comb, hairpin (for partitioning)

Ⅱ. Wearing steps (taking micro-ring hair extension as an example)

Step 1: Partitioning and preparation

1. Wash and blow-dry your hair (avoid using conditioner to prevent hair from being too slippery).

2. Use a fine-tooth comb to divide the hair into two layers, upper and lower, and fix the upper layer with a hairpin.

3. Starting from the back of the neck of the lower layer, separate the hair strands horizontally (about 1cm wide and 0.5cm thick).

Step 2: Fix the micro-ring

1. Take a bunch of hair extensions and put the micro-ring on the root of the natural hair strands (0.5-1cm away from the scalp).

2. Use the micro-ring pliers to clamp the micro-ring closed, and hear a “click” sound to indicate that it is locked.

3. Strength test: Gently pull the hair extension to confirm that it does not slide and there is no pain.

Step 3: Install layer by layer

Operate from the bottom layer to the top of the head, with a 2-3cm interval between each layer to maintain natural density.

Symmetry on both sides: The position and number of hair extensions on the left and right sides must be consistent.

Hair volume control: Each bundle of hair extensions covers about 10% of the original hair volume, avoid being too heavy.

III. Key skills and precautions

Safe distance:

The micro ring should be at least 0.5cm away from the scalp to prevent pulling the hair follicles.

Strength control:

Do not use excessive force when clamping with pliers to avoid crushing the micro ring or damaging the hair.

Hair bundle matching:

The original hair bundle must be similar in thickness to the hair extension (if the original hair is thin and soft, it can be divided into smaller bundles).

Long-term maintenance:

Go to the salon for adjustment every 4-6 weeks (the micro ring may move down due to hair growth).

IV. Common problem solutions

Problem 1: Hair extension slips

Reason: The micro ring is not clamped or the original hair is too slippery.

Solution: Clamp again with pliers, or spray a small amount of dry hair spray on the original hair to increase friction.

Problem 2: The pulling sensation is obvious

Reason: The micro ring is too close to the scalp or the hair strands are too thick.

Solution: Remove and reinstall to reduce the amount of hair in a single strand.

Problem 3: Hair extensions are prone to tangling

Care suggestions:

Comb the hair from the ends upwards with a wide-tooth comb every day.

Use a shampoo specifically for hair extensions (silicone-free formula).
